Continuity Plan

Yamasaki Academy of Woodbridge is committed to providing a safe environment for you and your family to train. We have outlined a Continuity Plan for managing the potential spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus within the Academy that supplements our already strict student health and welfare measures. This strategy will align with the laws and regulations set forth by the White House Guidelines for Opening Up American Again, as well as the Virginia Governor’s Office Forward Virginia Plan. Our goal is to take our time and work closely with our students and their families to make sure we are doing things safely and we are all staying healthy.

As of June 13th, we have moved into Phase 2 Re-Opening in Virginia which means we are officially open for business! Albeit with a reduced schedule of classes with reduced capacity. Please check out schedule of classes for the latest updates on what is available. We are accepting registrations for our Beginners Classes for Adults and Youth which will start Monday, June 22nd.

COVID-19 FAQs

We are planning to take our time returning to classes as they used to be. At first, our classes will run for a much shorter time period and will enforce strict social distancing rules. There will be limits on how many students and instructors will be allowed in the Academy. Expect classes that do not require a partner. When we begin partner training classes, we will require you to bring your own trusted partner. Someone from your household is preferred. We will ask you to stick with your designated partner(s) for a period of time (not just a single class).
Students will need to register for classes they wish to attend. Once we have reached maximum capacity for that class it will be closed. We will not accept walk-ins. Please download the Zenplanner app for your phone or register through the website:

If you do not remember your Zenplanner account email please contact us directly.

We also will be streaming our classes live. More information about this can be found on our Virtual Training page here:

• Face masks will be required while training for the first few weeks of re-opening. Please bring your own mask.
• Students will be required to wash/sanitize their hands before and after class
• Partners will be paired by the students, not the instructors. A “trusted partner” will need to be identified. Families can designate more than one trusted partner. We will expect you to continue you to use your documented trusted partner for a period of time.

  • They have not been contacted by a contact tracer alerting them to possible exposure within the past 14 days
• Anyone showing COVID-19 symptoms of any kind will not be permitted to attend class
• Instructors can ask anyone to leave at any time for any reason if they feel they are a risk to others
Yes. If you are already a member and can convince your spouse, loved one, or roommate to come train during this transition to “normal” they are welcome to come. Free. No membership needed.
Please contact us and let us know! We will be able to identify anyone who may have attended classes with you and we will contact them and let them know they have been exposed. We will not identify you or the person sick to anyone we contact.

Please add an additional 5 days to your quarantine time-frame before returning to the Academy if you get sick or test positive.
We plan to follow all local, state and federal guidelines. If we are moved back a phase or ordered to shut down we will comply. If Academy students and/or staff start getting sick, we may shut back down. We feel it is our responsibility to keep people safe and healthy when and where we can. We plan to keep a very close eye on everything we are doing and taking all precautions as we move back to a more “normal” state.
