AT YAMASAKI ACADEMY WOODBRIDGE

Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA for short, is the ultimate combat sport that combines all ranges of fighting.  Striking, grappling and ground fighting can all be used to secure a victory.

The Yamasaki Academy Woodbridge has one of the most successful MMA teams in the DMV area in terms of wins & losses.  We have had multiple champions in local promotions such as Cagezilla, Lights Out Combat, Mix It Up Sports, BattleFC, and the Cowboy Fight Series.  We have had multiple professional MMA fighters including Francisco Salguero, Aaron Riley, and Yves Edwards.

The MMA program at Yamasaki Academy Woodbridge is a little different than other gyms.  Our fighters must participate and compete in all of our programs including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai and Submission Grappling.   We feel this helps prepare the fighter for every and all scenarios possible to keep them well-rounded.

ACADEMY AMENITIES

We are the only training facility in the area with a full size competition MMA cage!  This raised, modular cage will have both Muay Thai style ropes and pads as well as MMA cage panels so students can train for both scenarios.

No need to bring your own equipment, we have lots of gear for our students to use including Thai pads, suitcase pads, boxing mitts, and elbow pads.  We also have an area with 8 different bags with it’s own timer.  

The “Grappling” training area is 1500 sq ft and uses a unique floating floor system of high density foam blocks attached to plywood with mats that sit on top to create a slightly bouncy floor that absorbs impact and reduces injury.
